Spay and Neuter Assistance

Kitty Angels and the Lowell Humane Society have arranged to have the Spay Waggin' offer low-cost spaying and neutering for cats and dogs. The Spay Waggin' is a spay/neuter program created by the Animal Rescue League of Boston to assist clients in financial need. Although the Spay Waggin' does not require proof of financial need; those having adequate resources to have the surgery performed at their local veterinarian should do so, allowing the Spay Waggin' to help where the need is greatest.

Location: Lowell Humane Society at 951 Broadway St. in Lowell. The Spay Waggin' will visit every other month starting November 6, 2007.

Because there is a limited number of spaces available, it is necessary to make an appointment ahead of time. To schedule an appointment call the Animal Rescue League Spay Waggin' at 1-877-590-SPAY (7729). If you experience problems while attempting to make an appointment, please email Kitty Angels or call Kitty Angels at: (978) 649-4681. Please do not call the Lowell Humane Society for appointments. Callers from outside Massachusetts should contact Kitty Angels directly.

How do I schedule an appointment?

The appointment line is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays of each week from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; however it is closed on all major holidays. All appointments must be pre-paid at the time of scheduling in order to secure your spot. Pre-paid appointments are non-refundable unless the appointment is cancelled with in 48 hours of the scheduled date. The Spay Waggin' can only accept two pets per person per day. All pets must be between the ages of four months and five years.

When do I pick my pet up?

Be prepared to pick your pet up in the afternoon of the day of surgery. A staff member will give you a designated pick up time in the morning upon drop off. If you do not arrive at the designated pick up time, you will be charged a late fee and your pet will be brought to one of The Spay Waggin's animal care facilities.

What is the Fee?

Cats: $65.00
Dogs: $80.00 (includes heartworm test)

The fee includes: physical exam, spay or neuter, rabies and distemper vaccines, microchipping and nail trim. For cats, a combination FIV/FeLV test is available for an additional $19. Flea treatment is also available for an additional charge.

Please be sure to bring additional money in the afternoon when you come to pick up your pet in case your pet needs to be sent home with any medication.
