A Love Story
Each night at exactly 6:30 this pair of cats would walk across the parking lot and sit next to a dumpster to wait for the lady that fed them every night. Rain or shine they came together and left together for two long years; they wouldn’t let anyone get close to them. The woman tried to follow them but never found out where they went. Things went on this way till the tiger cat came alone one night then two. Where was her mate? The black and white cat showed up finally but could not use one of his front legs. He hobbled painfully across the lot to be fed. The woman was horrified and frantically tried to find help. Reaching out to us, she sent a video of him trying to walk. We knew it was critical to trap him to get him the help he needed. Days and days went by with many hours invested by our volunteer. She caught the tiger cat first and then finally caught the black-and-white.
He was taken to our vet for treatment. His leg was damaged due to some kind of accident. No broken bones but only time would tell if he could regain use of it. He had a large polyp in one ear that had created a massive infection and had four broken canine teeth. The amazing thing is that neither cat was feral. They both had been abandoned and had become wary of people.
We named the female brown tiger, Kia and the black and white male Jeep. They have survived together for two years outside taking care of each other and would like to spend the rest of their years together in a safe loving home. And, Jeep has regained use of his leg!
